When Robert arrived in Vietnam 4 January 1966, he was assigned to B Company, 1st Battalion, 9th Infantry, 25th Infantry Division, USARV. Robert died as a result of gunshot wounds to the chest from semi-automatic fire from another soldier, when mistaken for the enemy, while Robert was checking the perimeter if an ambush site. His death was ruled as an accidental homicide.
Survived by his parents, Colonel Emerson B Taylor and Virginia Taylor of Takoma Park, MD.
