RURAL RETREAT, Va. Elizabeth Virginia "Betty" Bowling, 85, passed away on Monday, November 4, 2013, at her home. She was born in Elbert, W.Va. to the late Henry Watterson Vandergriff and Sonia Orlova Vandergriff. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Bowling; one brother, Phillip Vandergriff; and two sisters, Dixie Weber, and Jeanette Moser. She was a member of Russell's Chapel Church. She was very proud of the work she had done with the Jobst Institute, designing garments for burn victims. She is survived by two daughters, Rebecca Jeffries, Huron, Ohio, and Carol Siemieracki, Toledo, Ohio; one son and daughter-in-law, Russell Bowling and wife, Jesse, Biloxi, Mississippi; her grandchildren, Renee Mantkowski, Todd Jeffries, Angela Jeffries, Jamie Stover, Jennifer Stover, Stephanie Siemieracki, Erica Berden, Tristan Cody Bowling, and Jacob Bowling; 12 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Paul Vandergriff and wife, Mae, Atkins, Va.; and one sister and brother-in-law, Rebecca Painter and husband, Tim, Webster, Ky. A graveside funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, November 9, 2013, at Rosewood Memorial Gardens in Rural Retreat with the Rev. Herman Cress and Ralph Smith officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, November 8, 2013, from 6 until 8 p.m. from the Bradley's Funeral Home Chapel in Marion, Va.
