1927-2013


Constance (Connie) Ann Lovelace passed away November 5, 2013 due to age related causes. She was 86. She was born June 28, 1927 in New York City to Irene and Henry H. Smith. She married Tyrus R. Lovelace on August 15, 1951 in Tokyo, Japan. They ware married 62 years. Constance grew up in New York City, attended St Joseph's Catholic School in Greenwich Village, and for high-school attended Cathedral School for Girls. She received her diploma at St Patrick's Cathedral, New York City. She joined the civil service during the Korean War and traveled to Japan as a special services employee. It was there that she met her husband and after the war they settled in his hometown of Eugene, Oregon and raised their family.

She enjoyed a successful career in real estate, reading and playing bridge with her friends, drawing, painting, visiting Hawaii and food. Family was always her main priority. Connie was revered by many and was well known for her exquisite style and grace. Her favorite flower was a rose. She loved the Lord and learned through her Catholic religion and Bible Study Fellowship a "more clear knowledge of the nature of God and how he guides our lives".

She and her husband have resided in Eugene since 1952 and she has always loved Eugene from the first time she arrived. She and her family were members of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Eugene since 1956 and most of the four children went through grade school there.

She is survived by her husband, Tyrus Lovelace of Eugene; her children: Ray Lovelace of Beaverton, Jeff Lovelace of Wilsonville, Ann Shipman of Kihei, Hawaii and James Lovelace of Carollton, Texas. She had 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly. She loved her late brother, Henry Hilton Smith, dearly, as well as his wife and daughters.

A mass and Memorial will be held in her honor, Sat. November 9th, at 11:00 at St. Paul's Catholic Church. A funeral service will be held Tues, November 12th at Willamette National Cemetery.
