Garner Preston Dobyns, 79, of Salem, died Monday, September 18, 1995.

He was retired from Valleydale with over 41 years of service. He was active in youth work and served as president of the Virginia Christian Endeavor Union, president of the C.M.F., served churches in Craig Co., the Gravel Hill Christian Church and Craig Healing Springs Christian Church, was active and past chairman of the Salem Republican Party and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Rev. Dobyns and Margaret Estes entertained at the Senior Citizens Luncheons in Salem for many years.

Surviving is his wife, Mozelle R. Dobyns; sisters, Lollie Prince, Va. Beach, Alice Nesbitt, Palaka, Fla.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Lotz Salem Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Burger. Burial in Sherwood Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Lotz Salem Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Melrose Christian Youth Fund, 4047 Cove Road, N.W., Roanoke.
