A native of Pennsylvania. He was a Loyalist in the Revolutionary War. In Nov 1777 he was commissioned a Lieutenant in Captain Hovenden's Philadelphia Light Dragoons, which became part of Lt Col Tarleton's British Legion. After the war he received a land grant in Nova Scotia. He married Elizabeth Lombard, 1763-1853, March 30th 1786 at Manchester, Nova Scotia. The family relocated to Massachusetts shortly thereafter.
