Betty Jean Barduca, 78, of West Bloomfield, MI, and wife of the late Angelo Barduca, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2008 in Royal Oak, MI. She was born in Detroit to the late Chester and Kathleen Utting on January 16, 1930.
For years, Betty worked as an office manager for Anthony Dietz, D.D.S. She was an animal lover, especially a cat lover. She was a woman ahead of her time being environmentally conscious, and not wasting anything. For her, even running errands took prior planning to save gas and time, and to avoid traffic. Betty joined the “Save the Whales” campaign, and donated to the Humane Society. She loved to do crosswords, was an avid reader, and always belonged to the public libraries. She still found time to keep up with politics and other current events.
Betty was a simple woman who remained very independent. She was a classy woman, and someone who took great care of all she owned. She liked to have nice things, but made sure they stayed that way as well. She also loved to drink her tea. She would always have her two cups in the morning. Although she never had any children, Betty enjoyed family events, and always went out of her way to give something special to someone who deserved it. One of her favorite times of year was Christmas. She enjoyed seeing all the lights.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews: Kathleen Osterbeck (Tom), Larry Leaf (Jodi), Carol Ellis (Bill), Michele Paretti (Frank), Leslie Willett (Mark), and Gary Leaf (Tammy). She was also a great-aunt to: Ryan, Heather, Jessica, Stephanie, B.J., Andi, Danielle, Eric, Kendra, Robert, Ricky, and Noah; and a great-great aunt to: Nicholas, Nichole, Jeffrey, Ryenne Nichole, Brayden, Colton, Dylan, Reagan, Lily, Wesley, Derek, Ethan, Hayley, Maizee, Kyra, and Samantha. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Bernice Barduca and a brother-in-law, Sam Locascio.
Family will receive friends at the A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home (Vasu, Rodgers, & Connell Chapel), 32515 Woodward Ave. (btwn 13-14 Mile), on Thursday, July 10, 2008 from 3-8pm.
