Austin Freeman, 90, died Wednesday, November 6, 2013 in Amarillo.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, November 8, 2013, at Fairview Cemetery, with Pastor Paul Nachtigall of Highland Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Mr. Freeman was born March 23, 1923 in Drumright, Oklahoma. He had been a resident of Pampa since 1971. He married Eunice Renegar on December 29, 1962 in Amarillo. She preceded him in death on April 26, 2010. Austin was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, serving during World War II. He worked in the oilfield for many years. He attended Calvary Baptist Church. Austin enjoyed mowing lawns, being a handyman, and watching football. He maintained his independence up until the very end. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Beckworth, his sister, Kathlyne McMillian, and his parents, Frank and Goldie Freeman.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Odyssey Hospice for their great care of Austin.

Survivors include three daughters, Nancy Goring and Kim Dyer and husband Brent, all of Pampa, and Mary Wakefield of Amarillo, a son, Terry Freeman and wife Faye of Dayton, Ohio, a brother, Worth M. Freeman of Denver, Colorado, eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
