PRINCETON — Edna Fay Whitteker, age 99, formerly of the Havens of Princeton and formerly of Route 3, Box 628, Bluefield, W.Va., died on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at the home of her daughter, Sandra Martin.Born on February 24, 1910, in Freeman, she was the daughter of the late Edgar Lee and Minnie Belle Bennett Williams. She grew up in Freemen, attended Bramwell High School and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Pine Grove Church of Christ for over 60 years.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Lee Whitteker; four brothers, Hedley Williams, Buford Williams, Clarence (Buck) Williams and Charles (Dee Bee) Williams; and four sisters, Ruby Shrewsbury, Lillian Grim, Margaret Marshall, and Lucille Webb.Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Martin of Princeton, W.Va.; sons, Charles W. Whitteker and wife Lynn of Princeton, W.Va., Calvin Lee Whittaker and wife Julia of Colliersville, Tenn.; sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Ruff of N. Las Vegas, Nev.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Also surviving are her special caregivers at the Havens and the Amedisys Hospice.Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Pastor Wallace Smith and Jack Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Serving as pallbearers will be Ronnie Martin, II, Charles Lee Whitteker, Eli Meadows, Jack Johnson, Darrell Powers and Kenneth Kirby.Friends may call on Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Amedisys Hospice Services, Route 2, Box 180, Bluefield, WV 24701 in lieu of flowers.The family will be receiving online condolences at www.cravens-shires.com.The Cravens-Shires Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
