Marc Edward Barott, 83 of Solway, MN died Friday, September 16, 2011 at Hofmeister Adult Foster Care in Solway, MN.

Funeral Services will be 1:00 pm Saturday, September 24, 2011 at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji, MN with Rev. Jill Torgerson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Minnesota State Veteran's Cemetery in Little Falls, MN under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji.

He was born March 5, 1928 in Toledo, Ohio, the son of Marguerite (Koenig) Barott. He and his family moved to Bend, OR and Centerville, MN. When he was 12, he and his family moved to St. Cloud, MN where he graduated in 1945 from St. Cloud Tech High School. At this time, he enlisted in the Navy. He retired 20 years later as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. During some of his time in the service he served as a Technical Advisor to Presidents Kennedy and Johnson.

He also married Stella Bassford and had one daughter. When he retired from the Navy, he worked as an Information Technology Manager at Presbyterian Hospital in Chicago, IL, Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York and the Hilton Hotel in Las Vegas. In 1977, he bought his own semi-truck and went into the trucking business, working out of Tucson, AZ. In 1990, he moved to Bemidji to retire and be close to his family.

He is survived by his daughter: Peggy Barott of Maryland 3 grandchildren sister: Adele (Al) Devlin of Guthrie brother: Phil (Jana) Barott of Alberquerque, NM numerous nieces and nephews special care giver: Judy Hofmeister.
