Cumberland Times, Cumberland, January 11, 1890: “Mr. Bartholomew Kean, ex-councilman of this city, died of dropsy superinduced by rheumatism after an illness of 3 weeks at his home. Mr. Kean, born in Tralee, County Clare, Ireland, in 1829, came to this country in 1848, and worked as a stone mason and was of a family of 14. He leaves a wife, 4 sons, and 2 daughters, all living except for Marshall who died a few years ago. He was 70 years of age and engaged in the grocery business for the past few years. The funeral is Monday from St. Patrick's Catholic Church with burial in the cemetery connected with the church.
