CARTWRIGHT, JOHN DIGBY, 2nd Lieutenant, 2nd Battalion Durham L.I., eldest son of the Rev. William Digby Cartwright, Rector of Aynhoe, by his wife, Lucy Harriette Maud, daughter of Edward Bury, and gdson. of Col. Henry Cartwright, Grenadier Guards, J.P., M.P. [7th son of Lieutenant-Col. William Ralph Cartwright, of Aynhoe Park, M.P.]; b. Aynhoe, co. Northants, 23 June, 1895; educated Durnford, Wellington College and Sandhurst; received his commission in the 3rd Reserve Battalion of the Durham L.I., 10 Nov. 1914, and was afterwards transferred to the 2nd Battalion He went to the Front, 15 June, 1915, and was killed in action at Hooge, 9 Aug. 1915, being buried there; unmarried. He was mentioned in Sir John French's Despatch dated 30 Nov. 1915.
