Walendy, Marlin F. died peacefully in the early morning of November 3, 2013, at Mt. Carmel Senior Living, strengthened for his journey by the last rites of the Catholic Church and with his five beloved children nearby. He was born Marlin Frederick Walendy in St. Charles on October 17, 1917. He was preceded in death by his cherished wife of 68 years, Ruth Anne Kister Walendy, and by his parents, Henry and Cornelia Heitgerd Walendy. Marlin leaves behind his two sons, three daughters, and eleven grandchildren: Tom Walendy (Nancy) and their children Tony Walendy (Missy), Anne Marie Ivan (Mike) and Sarah Walendy, John Walendy (Pat) and their children Chris Walendy and Matt Walendy, Mary Evans (Jim) and their children Jay Evans and Dawn Odean (Doug), Anne Davis (Kevin) and their children Kirsten Prenzlow-Davis (Ulrich) and Nathan Davis (Angela), and Martha Spital (Aaron) and their children Sam Spital (Robert) and Andy Spital. Marlin also leaves behind twelve great-grandchildren. The health and happiness of his family were the great concerns of his life, and he will be deeply missed by all. Marlin was a lifelong resident of St. Charles except for the 4 years he spent at the University of Missouri (BS) and the 5 years he spent in Ohio and Europe as a U.S. Army officer during WWII. He had a forty-year career as a mechanical engineer before retiring in 1985 from Anheuser-Busch in St. Louis. He was very civicminded and was active in the St. Charles community, but his heart was in the home where the evening meal was like a sacred ritual. Marlin's family appreciates the loving care given to him by the staff of Mt. Carmel Senior Living. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in the name of Marlin F. Walendy to St. Charles Borromeo parish or to the Academy of the Sacred Heart in St. Charles. Services: The family is being served by The BAUE Funeral Home, 620 Jefferson Street, St. Charles, MO where a private graveside service will be held for family members at the St. Charles Borromeo cemetery on Tuesday.
