Tommy married Mary K. (Wilson) on November 22, 1962. That Marriage produced two children, son Kevin P. and daughter Kathryn R. (Lamoreaux). That marriage ended in divorce after 41 years and Tommy went on to marry two more times, 2nd wife Kathy and 3rd wife Melba Jean. He also had six great grandchildren: Hayden, Jade, Evelyn, Paige, Emily and Skylar.

After Tommy retired from the Navy, he moved his family from Fresno, CA to White Salmon, Washington where he opened T.D.'s Foreign Auto Repair. He operated the shop for several years before retiring completely. In 1995 he moved again to Osburn, Idaho, finally ending up in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

Tommy was an avid outdoors-man. He loved hunting, fishing, shooting and camping, and always enjoyed being with friends and family. He loved playing pool, competing in tournaments and leagues, and had lately dabbled in repairing pool ques.
