James William "J.W." Dorrell, age 93 of Marceline, died Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Pioneer Skilled Nursing Center, Marceline. J.W. was born at Rothville, Missouri on October 17, 1920 to Joseph Ervin and Lucille Pearl (Lake) Dorrell. He married Jewell Chrisman on July 20, 1943 at Marceline and she preceded him in death in 1992. J.W. had worked as the head of Maintenance at the Marceline R5 High School. He is survived by one son Dennis Dorrell, Ft. Madison, IA; two daughters, Charlotte Elliott, New Cambria and Sharon Cavins, Branson; eight grandchildren, Lori Souther, Wendie Matlick, Angie Carriker, Grant Cavins, Mitchell Calvert, Kimberlee Richardson, Dustin Dorrell, and Stacy Rudd, fifteen great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers, Clarence and Leland, and three sisters, Doris Yarbrough, Norma Wessels and Eileen Bishop. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Delaney Funeral Home in Marceline with Mary Ellen Waychoff officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Marceline. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 11 AM until time of services at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Mitchell Calvert, Allen Souther, Vince Matlick, Jim Carriker, Tell Campbell, and Tyler Souther, and honorary pallbearer James Dorrell. Memorial may be made to the Food Pantry at Marceline and these may be left at or mailed to Delaney Funeral Home 1720 N. Missouri Ave., Marceline, MO 64658.
