SMITH, Cecelia Ann "Pepper" age 78, of Germantown, passed away Sunday, November 3, 2013 at the Hospice of Butler and Warren Counties. She was born on September 21, 1935 in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of the late Clifford J. McManus & Evelyn F. (Dunn) Anderson, and her loving step-father Andy Anderson. Pepper was a RN for the Dayton VA Medical Center with 34 years of service; she earned her BSN from the Christ Hospital and the Miami University. She was a member of NOVA, the Regal Red Hatters, 20th Century Club, Pastor President of the Germantown City Council and long standing member of the City Council, Historical Society of Germantown, Germantown Senior Citizens, the Local Card Club, Mom's Club, and a longtime member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, and active in many ministries.

Preceded in death by Robert H. Day and Walter Townsend. Survivors include her husband David R. Smith, 2 daughters Kathleen Shock, Dana Tegtmeyer and husband Tom, 2 sons Todd Day and wife Julie, Scott Townsend, a step-daughter Ginger Estep, a step-son David M. Smith, a brother John Anderson and wife Sue, 11 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 3 step-great grandchildren.

Funeral services at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 30 Warren St., Germanton, with Pastor Michael Havey officiating. Burial Germantown Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the DALTON FUNERAL HOME, (corner of St. Rt. 4 & Weaver Rd.,) Germantown. If so desired memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton or to the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in her memory.
