Howard C McLaughlin, 94, passed away on Nov. 3, at the Windsor House in Champion, Ohio. Howard was born Feb. 27, 1919 in Newton Falls the son of Loma & Alpha McLaughlin.

Following his graduation from Newton Falls High School, Howard joined the Air Force and was stationed in Puerto Rico. He met his wife Aida there and had two sons, Howard and Eddie before returning to Newton Falls. He had several jobs in his lifetime including working for AMF servicing the bowling pin spotters. Howard was co-owner of Newton Lanes for a while and ended his working days at the Volkswagen plant in PA. Howard was a member of the VFW and American Legion and attended the First Church of God in Newton Falls. He liked to spend his days watching Fox News and the western channel. Howard liked to go around town seeing his friends at the Huntington Bank, Rite Aid and Pamida where he would go for his daily walk. Singing was always a big part of Howard's life. He sang in the school choir and won singing contests at the Lake Milton and Idora Park ballrooms. He sang with the Airforce band while stationed in Puerto Rice and loved singing in the church choir and singing solos for the Lord, before his voice gave out on him at the age of 90. Howard enjoyed his stay these last few months at the Windsor House going to the activities and making many new friends who he loved.

Survivors include his sons, Howard (Donna) McLaughlin of Omaha, Nebraska and Ed (Nellie) McLaughlin of Newton Falls. His step children, Mary Spain, Betty (Don) Davis and Frank (Pam) Mauric of Newton Falls, Several grandchildren and great grandchildren to include Darin McLaughlin, Denel Danner, Brian McLaughlin, Darryl McLaughlin, Renee Monday, Debbie Derflinger and Dane Davis. Nephews Ron Brown of Florida, Don Brown and Jim McLaughlin of Newton Falls. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, James, sister, Edna Brown and his wife Ethel.

Family and friends may call at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls on Thursday, November 7 between 6:00 and 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at the First Church of God in Newton Falls on Friday at 11:00 am where friends may call one hour prior to the service.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Windsor House and Hospice of the Valley for the special care Howard received while staying at the Windsor House.
