MASSILLON - Richard L. Roper, 58, died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, in Autumn Hospital.


He was born June 20, 1951, in Jenkins, Ky., a son of Robert L. Roper and Edna Newberry Roper.


He served in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War. He received the Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device, National Defense Service Medal, two Overseas Service Bars and the Expert Qualification Badge with Rifle Bar.


Survivors include his brothers, Gerald and Kenneth, both of Warren; and two sisters, Sue Gober of Howland and Jennifer Harris of Marysville.


Two brothers are deceased.


A military service will be held at by American Legion Post 540 at 2 p.m. Monday at Pineview Memorial Chapel.


Burial will be in Pineview Memorial Park.
