Martha DeWitt died Monday, January 10, 1977, in Murphysboro, Illinois. She was 62. Her death was attributed to heart complications.

She was born in Alton, Missouri on October 20, 1914, the daughter of Frank and Edie Hodge Miller.

She married Marvin DeWitt in Alton, Missouri on June 5, 1929.

She is survived by her husband, Marvin; seven daughters, Eva Struthers of Richwoods, Missouri, Eva Morefield, Dora Jedamsky and Rachel DeWitt, all of Murphysboro, Katherine Wohlwend of Fenton, Missouri, Helen Bean of De Soto and Marie Maxedon of Salem; three sons, Sylvin of St. Louis, Missouri, Gilbert of St. Clair, Missouri and Clarence of Anna; 42 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Crabtree of Murphysboro and Pearl Fulton of Iowa; and one brother, John Miller of Oregon.
