Darrell was an Elder of Rising Sun Christian Church. He was owner and operator of Big D Sales. He worked at Wabash Valley Service Company as an administrative assistant for 15 years. He was also a retired farmer and mechanic. Darrell was very active in the Lawrence County 4-H program where he served as a board member and a judge. He was in charge of security for the Miss Illinois County Fair Queen Pageant. Darrell served on the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce as a board member, was a former township trustee, and an active member of the Russell-Lawrence-Ambraw Levee District. He enjoyed singing, but most of all he was a loving father and grandfather.
Preceding Darrell in death were his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Linda, of rural Lawrenceville; two sons Kevin Fisher of St. Louis, Missouri and Keith (Kristie) Fisher of rural Lawrenceville; two daughters Carmen (David) Rains of Robinson, Illinois and Kimberly Fisher of rural Lawrenceville; one brother Ronald (Jane) Fisher of rural Lawrenceville; five grandchildren Cassandra Rains, Cierra Rains, Collin Rains, Karter Fisher and Karly Fisher; one step-brother Lowell (Bernie) Higgins, Jr. of Vincennes, Indiana and one step-sister Sheila (Richard) Perry of Vincennes, Indiana.
Funeral services at Central Christian Church, 303 Buchanan Drive in Lawrenceville.
Burial in Lawrenceville City Cemetery.
