GILL- Ruth Victoria (Cardwell) Wallner, 93, passed peacefully away on January 4, 2013 at home. She was born March 1, 1919 in Buckland, MA, the daughter of John and Victoria (Paul) Cardwell.
Ruth graduated from The Arms Academy of Shelburne Falls in 1937, and married Robert L. Wallner on June 16, 1941.
Ruth, a resident of Gill since 1945, was a communicant of Saint Mary's Church and Our Lady of Peace Church in Turners Falls.
Ruth truly loved her husband, family, and friends. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She took great joy in gardening, quilting, baking, camping, hiking, watching sporting events and spending time with her beloved dog Blackberry. She was an avid Umass basketball fan.
Survivors include her children; Robert J. Wallner and his wife Margery of Greenfield , Mary E. Norrman and her husband Vincent of Millbury, and Irene Couture of Clearwater, FL. and Rutland, Vt.; her grandchildren; Robert Wallner, Jr. and his wife Jennifer, Jennifer Sinistore and her husband Richard, Christine Norrman, Paul Norrman and his wife Bree, Gerald Couture, III and his wife Julia, Stephen Couture and his wife Elizabeth, Victoria Couture and her fiancé Robert Prozzo, and Christopher Couture and his fiance' Sarah Ledgerwood; 12 great grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Robert on February 16, 2004; her brothers; Herald, Paul, Kenneth, John, and Francis Cardwell; her sisters; Dorothy Buteau and Doris Cardwell; and her son-in-law Gerald L. Couture Jr.
