POQUOSON - D. Garland Moore, 82, died Wednesday, May 30, in Riverside Regional Medical Center, Newport News.

A native of Georgia, Mr. Moore was a Peninsula resident several years. He was a member of Emmaus Baptist Church.

Mr. Moore retired as a steamfitter from Plumbers and Steamfitters Local No. 10 Richmond in 1974. He was a member of the union for 40 years.

Survivors include his wife, Pauline Phillips Moore; one son, Robert Edward Moore of Poquoson; one sister, Rhea Kimsey of Hiawassee, Ga.; and three grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Claytor Rollins Funeral Home by the Rev. Jack A. Lawson. Burial will be in Peninsula Memorial Park, Newport News.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight in the funeral home.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Emmaus Baptist Church heritage fund or Poquoson Rescue Squad.
