June 22, 1899 "The Pilot" of Blair Nebraska states:
The death of Nelson Tremaine occurred last Saturday evening. Mr. Tremaine was born in Holmes County, Ohio in 1828, and spent most of his life in that state. He leaves a wife and ten children to mourn the loss of a loving husband and a kind and indulgent father. He has been a resident of this city for many years and is well and favorably known. His wife Melvina Keeghan Tremaine of Blair, Mrs. C.F. Austin of St. Paul, Mrs. Marvin Buchanan of Marshalltown, Iowa, Mrs. William Bonine of Blair, and Mrs. Jon McDonald of Freemont. His sons, Frank of Blair, John of Boone, Iowa, Samuel of Artic, Washington, James in Iowa, William of Maxwell, Iowa and Edward of Oneill, Nebraska.
