Floyd Embree was born September 6, 1914, at Tuscola, Texas. He is the oldest of three children. At the age of twelve he was baptized by Brother W. D. Black. In 1927 his parents moved to Petersburg, Texas, where they now reside, and where Floyd finished high school in 1932. In January of 1935, he entered Abilene Christian College and finished one year's work there. In the summer of 1935 he began to preach the gospel. Not only has he been preaching but since the age of eighteen he has been active in the song service. Since that time he has sung for meetings in Oklahoma and various places in Texas. He has preached in Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas, and has held meetings in Texas. In June of 1937 he moved to Lamesa where he did accounting work and preached for the various congregations near Lamesa; a1so preaching some for the congregation in Lamesa while Brother Foster was away in meetings. On the fourth Sunday in April, 1938, he began regular work with the church at Forsan, Texas. Since moving he has conducted one singing school for the church there. In the two months that he has been there, there has been one confession of faults and a gradual increase in attendance of Ladies Bible Class and Prayer-meeting, and new faces are seen at most every service. ---W.
