Doris Lenore Barber, 96, of Garden City, KS, died Wed., Oct. 30, 2013, at her home in Garden City.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Wed., Nov. 6 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home in Colorado Springs with Pastor Carley Hazelton officiating. Burial was in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City, KS was in charge of arrangements. Condolences can be E-mailed to [email protected].

Doris was born May 29, 1917 at North Loup, NE, to Clifford John and Eva May (Pierce) Goodrich. She graduated from North Loup High School in Nebraska. She lived most of her adult life in Colorado Springs and worked as a baker in the YWCA cafeteria, a cook at the Ponderosa Southern Baptist Assembly Grounds and in the Accounting Department for Preferred Risk Insurance Company. She moved to Garden City in 2012. She enjoyed genealogy, history, writing and traveling.

She married Dell Claude Barber on July 20, 1935 at Scottsbluff, NE. He died May 18, 1999.

Doris was a member of SpringsLife Seventh Day Baptist Church of Colorado Springs, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution-Kinnikinnik Chapter of Colorado Springs, and the Colorado State Historical Society.

Survivors include three daughters, Carley Avon Hazelton of Garden City, KS, Bonnie Bee (James) Watts of Tullahoma, TN, and Dixie Rae Boyer of Rush, CO; a son, Charles Leon Barber of Colorado Springs, CO; a brother, Ronald Goodrich of Pueblo, CO; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; eight great great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Frances Van Horn of North Loup, NE, and Beverly Stillman of Albuquerque, NM.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Theron Duane Barber, a grandson, Kenneth James Watts, a great-grandson, Derrick Clayton Andrews, two brothers, Paul and Charles Goodrich and two sisters, Dorothy Stanghellini and Ersel Jorgensen.
