Jill Ann McCracken
Jill Ann McCracken went to be with our Lord on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2005, after a 30 year battle with rheumatoid arthritis.
Jill was born July 4, 1942, to L.E. (Pete) and Syble (Williams) McGregor in Baxter Springs, Kan.
Jill graduated from Baxter Springs High School in 1961.
She was a life long member of First Christian Church, of Baxter Springs.
Jill battled her disability with determination and deep faith in God.
She was a dedicated grandmother.
She filled her time with embroidering of special gifts for her family and friends.
She enjoyed flea markets and collecting various items.
Jill is survived by her best friends, Darrel Harmon, of Joplin, Mo.; three children, Jay Watson, of Baxter Springs, Cynthia VanSlyke, of Joplin, and Penny Jones and Ron, of Baxter Springs; four grandchildren, Thomas Hughes, of Baxter Springs, Molly VanSlyke and Michael VanSlyke, both of Joplin, and Christina Jones, of California. Her extended Harmon family of six children; 16 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Pat Warstler and Kent and Barbara Skaggs and Everet; one brother, Ronal (Sonny) McGregor, all of Baxter Springs; and an uncle, aunt, many nieces and nephews, cousins and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister-in-law, Pat McGregor; a nephew, Jim Skaggs; a great-nephew, Cody Warstler; and great-niece, Macy Warstler.
Services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 12, at 10 a.m. at Derfelts Baxter Chapel in Baxter Springs. Rev. Steve Minor will officiate.
Interment will be in Baxter Cemetery with family members serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6:30 until 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
