Charles R. Robinson age 85, a Manitowoc resident, died Monday afternoon, June 4, 2012 at Northridge Medical and Rehabilitation Center in Manitowoc.
Charles was born on August 6, 1926 in Elwood, PA, son of the late Richard and Alice (Slader) Robinson. He grew up in and was educated in England. During WWII Charles served in the British Army from 1943 until 1947. After the war Charles attended the DeForest Technical College in Chicago, IL to become a radio engineer. On October 13, 1956 Charles was married to the former Gladyce Stipek at the First Presbyterian Church in Manitowoc. Charles worked as a journeyman electrician for the Manitowoc Company retiring in 1989. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and in the past served as an elder, the Golden K in Manitowoc, the WI Czechs, and the WI Chapter of the Tourette Syndrome Association. Charles was instrumental in the development of the Tourette Syndrome Association and served as president in the past. He enjoyed electrical work, woodworking and serving as a handyman.
Survivors include his wife: Gladyce Robinson, Manitowoc; one son and daughter-in-law: Andy (Debbie) Robinson, Manitowoc; one daughter and son-in-law: Mary (Matt) Spors, Holmen; four grandchildren: Vanessa (Mike) McGovert, Cory Robinson, Lindsey Spors and Stephani Spors; one great granddaughter: Lily McGovert. Charles was preceded in death by his parents: Richard and Alice Robinson and one sister: Eileen Fodgen.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 7, 2012 at the First Presbyterian Church, 502 N. 8th St. Manitowoc. The Rev. Dr. Matthew L. Sauer will officiate with burial to follow at the Evergreen Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. The Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home of Manitowoc is serving the Robinson family.
