"MRS. BETSY HOLLAND

Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon for Mrs. Betsy Holland, from the Ben Jacobson home and from Salem church, Rev. Olaf Holen officiating. Burial was made in the Roland cemetery. Special music was furnished by Mr. and Mrs. O.S. Boyd. The pall bearers were Oscar E. Twedt, Elmer Jacobson, Henry M. Hanson, Sam J. Nelson, Chas. Christian and A.J. Shold.

Those from a distance in attendance at the funeral were Sam Holland of Kansas City, Mo., Mr. and Mrs. Ole J. Holland and family of Jewell, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Fossil and family of Gilbert, Theodore Hill, Mrs. Tom Hill, Mrs. August Johnson and Mrs. Helen Eickhor, of Lake Wilson, Minn. Mr. and Mrs. Amos Fossel of Gilbert, Mr. and Mrs. Omar Teigland, Mr. and Mr.s Annas Jacobson, Jacob Jacobson, Misses Martha and Josie Jacobson, Mr. and Mrs. M.C. Townswick, B.T. Holm, Mrs. Albert Larson and Misses Olive and Alvina Holm of Story City.

Mrs. Betsy Holland was born in Skaanevik, Norway, on April 9, 1864. She came to Story county in 1891. On February 27, 1896, she was united in marriage to Ole S. Holland [Haaland], who preceded her in death, 31 years ago, December 10, 1910. After a lingering illness, she passed away early on Monday morning, December 22, 1941, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Agnes Fossel. At the time of her death Mrs. Holland was 77 years, 8 months and 12 days of age.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her children, Ole of Jewell, Mrs. Agnes Fossel of Gilbert, Sam of Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. Anna Jacobson of Roland; one sister, Mrs. Tom Hill of Lake Wilson, Minn., and one sister and one brother in Norway; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren."
