Marilyn Ruth Forrester Edwards, 74, passed away on Friday, November 1, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in Ardmore, Okla. Funeral services will be held at First United Methodist Church of Ardmore at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013, with the Rev. Dan Patman and the Rev. Jessica Seay officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Ardmore, Okla.
Marilyn was born on January 16th, 1939, to Doyle and Clema Forrester at Pampa, Texas. She was raised in Borger, Texas, and graduated from North Texas State College obtaining a teaching degree. She married De Boy "DeB" Edwards on August 12th, 1961, in Borger, Texas. DeB and Marilyn have been active members of First United Methodist Church of Ardmore since 1973. Marilyn was a motherly figure to many, and loved by all that came in contact with her. She had polio as a child in 1951 and was left paralyzed. Her handicap never slowed her down.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Doyle and Clema (Jones) Forrester; and a sister, Carolyn Sue Lemons.
Survivors include her husband, DeB Edwards, of Ardmore; two sons, Curtis Edwards of Sherman, Texas, and Clayton Edwards of Palmetto, Florida; six grandchildren, Jennifer Platt of Bradenton, Florida, Kimber Esquibel of Laredo, Texas, Kayla Van Zandt and Krista Edwards, both of Sherman, Texas, and Casey Edwards and Kyle Edwards both of Palmetto, Florida; one brother, George Doyle Forrester, Jr., of Borger, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Ardmore First United Methodist Church Building Fund, 501 W. Main St.,, Ardmore, Okla.
Family visitation will be held on Monday evening, Nov. 4, 2013, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Griffin~Hillcrest, Ardmore, Okla.
