Doris L. Schleis, age 81, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Saturday, March 09, 2013 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center.
Doris was born on August 16, 1931 in Manitowoc to the late George and Ruth Gassett Heindl. She graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1949. On October 18, 1952, Doris married Peter F. Schleis in Manitowoc. She enjoyed playing dominos at The Manitowoc Senior Center. Doris loved dogs and was known to always carry dog treats with her. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, St. Clare Society and Knights of Columbus Auxiliary.
Survivors include Doris' husband of 60 years: Peter F. Schleis; three sons: Bill (Laurel) Schleis, Manitowoc; Tim (June Prestin) Schleis, Menominee Falls; and Jimbo Schleis, Manitowoc; two daughters: Susan Schleis, Galesville; and Nancy (Ronald) Beaulieu, Manitowoc; 10 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; also other relatives and friends. Doris was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Peter G. Schleis.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Richard Klingeisen. At a later date, cremation will take place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel with burial of Doris' cremated remains at Evergreen Cemetery. Family and friends may call at church on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Following the funeral service, a luncheon will be held at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home.
