Troy was born Oct. 29, 1926, in Dent Co., MO, and is the son of the late Charley and Ruth(Nelson) King. He grew up in Texas Co., MO, and graduated from Licking High School.
Troy served proudly in the U.S. Army as a Technician Fourth Grade (Mechanic) with the 66th Infantry in Germany during WWII. He often talked about his opportunity to attend the Nuremburg Trials during a short stay in Nuremburg at the end of the war.
Troy was united in marriage to Bertha Munro on Nov. 19, 1949. To this union, three children were born, Troy Jr., Don and Betty.
Troy worked as a journeyman machinist until he retired in 1988. After retirement, Troy and Bertha enjoyed traveling all over the U.S. in their travel trailer. Troy also enjoyed working on cars and couldn't resist taking things apart to see how they worked.
Troy was preceded in death by his parents, Charley and Ruth; sister, Alma; brothers, Lenza and Wayne. Left to mourn him is his wife, Bertha, married 6r years; his sons, Troy King, Jr. (Lynn) and Don King (Vicki); daughter, Betty (Bill) Nelson; seven grandchildren, Jeff (alicia) King, Dawn (Todd) Tibbets, Bill (Jen) Nelson, Jr., Erin King; Scott Hopsecker; Casey King, Kevin King; 12 great-grandchildren; brother Hiram (Bonnie) King; many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Funeral services will be held at J.B. Smith Funeral Home, in Maplewood, MO., on Friday, Nov 8, 2013, at 12 p.m. Troy will be interred immediately following the service at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, with Military Honors.
