Mr. Hugh King, age 77, of Martin, died Friday, November 1, 2013 at Ty Cobb Regional Medical Center.
Born July 15, 1936, in Hart County, he was the son of the late Hugh Dorsey and Carlyne (Walters) King.
He graduated from Lavonia High School and the Georgia Institute of Technology. He was an industrial engineer and a member of Grace Calvary Episcopal Church in Clarkesville. Mr. King was a longtime volunteer at the Toccoa Soup Kitchen, an avid supporter of and participant in Community Theater, and an enthusiast of German automobiles.
Survivors include his wife: Beth (Harris) King; sons: Hugh D. "Trey" King, III & wife Dawn and John Garth King & wife Christie; step-children: Josh Mize & wife Amy, Laura Torres & husband Jerry, and Matt Mize & wife Kati; grandchildren: Isaac, Jacob, & Joseph King, Madison, Max, & Zach King, Jaxon & Caleb Hart, Jules, Aedia, & Abram Torres, and Kelson & Brayden Mize; brothers: James King, Thomas King, Gus King, Morris King, Doug King, & John King; sisters: Martha Jane Snelling, Priscilla Randall, and Nancy McDaniel; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Robert Lee King.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 4, 2013 at Grace Calvary Episcopal Church in Clarkesville with the Rev. Sarah Fisher officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel of the Holy Cross Church Cemetery in Clarkesville.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. At other hours the family will be at the home.
