Mr. J. B. Bealer, 78, of Montrose died Tuesday, December 7, 1999, at the Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville, MS. A native of Ashley County and a Montrose resident for the past 39 years, he was a retired wood cutter and a member of the Pleasant Grove A. M. E. Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Coot and Nettie Richardson Bealer, and one brother, L. C. Bealer. Survivors are his wife, Irene Murphy Bealer of Montrose; five sons, Billy Bealer of Pine Bluff, Albert Lee Bealer of Dallas, TX, Larry D. and Calvin Bealer of Little Rock and Alvin Bealer of Rockford, IL: seven daughters, Vera Dean Vaughn of Fordyce, Fora Dean Lambert of Hot Springs, Fredia Bealer of Malvern, Dorothy Mae Hatten, Ira Jean Hall and Cherrie Ann Knight, all of Detroit, MI, and Ruthie Bealer Dunlap of Little Rock; three brothers, Calvin Bealer of Cleveland, OH, Nathaniel Bealer of Santa Monica, CA, and Anderson Bealer, Jr., of Cincinnati, OH; two sisters, Ira Hameth of Dermott and Eliza Miles of Little Rock; 22 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and many other nephews and nieces. Funeral services were planned for 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 14, in the New Light Baptist Church in Portland with Rev. Eugene Mitchell. Pallbearers were to be Lumas Blakley, Larry Sprats, Able King, Johnny Wilson, Raymond Dawson and William Woods. Honorary pallbearers were to be Billy, Larry, Albert and Alvin Bealer. Burial was to follow services at the Montrose Cemetery, directed by Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg.
