She was born July 29, 1917 in Georgetown, TX, the daughter of the late Claus Rictor and Selma E. Anderson.
Evelyn was a woman ahead of her time, a woman who stood strong for equality and fairness for all people, long before it became fashionable. She was a woman who spoke her mind with conviction and stood strong her entire life in support of her family and loved ones. She also had a warm caring heart for all persons in need and gave her time to help others.
We will miss you Mom or Evelyn or Eve or Evie as many called her. Be blessed in the knowledge that you are finally joined with your beloved husband and say hello to Greta when you see her. Your loving sons, Harry and Tom.
Evelyn was the loving wife of almost 70 years to the late George Charles Barker who passed on March 15, 2009.
She is survived by her sons, Harry William Barker, Amsterdam, NY and Thomas George Barker, Baltimore, MD; seven grandchildren, Kimberly Groce, Houston, TX, Claude Groce, Houston, TX, Gregory Groce, CA, John Barker, Medina, OH, Todd Barker, St. Johnsville, NY, Lisa Herold, Cohoes, NY, Sarah Vannucci, Clifton Park, NY; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Greta Marie Barker-Groce.
Interment will be in the Gerald B.H. Solomon-Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville NY.
