Born in Rock Hill, SC, he was the son of the late Marlin and Ethel Hollifield Hood. He worked in numerous textile mills in the area as a lab technician and was a member of Cherrydale Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Isabelle Demby Hood; son: Robert D. (Peggy) Hood of Travelers Rest; daughter: Kathy (Cary) Parris of Woodruff; 2 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents, he was predeceased by 3 sisters and 2 brothers.
The family will receive friends Thursday afternoon from 1:30 until 2:30 p.m. at The Howze Mortuary.
Funeral services will be Thursday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. at The Howze Mortuary Chapel with burial to follow at Grand View Memorial Gardens.
The family will be at 15 Collins Rd., Travelers Rest.
