Fonda Nadeau was born in St. Joseph, Michigan. Her parents brought her to San Francisco in a covered wagon as a child and they moved to Seattle in 1877. Nadeau spent her childhood in Fort Lawton, Washington, and graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School. She returned to Seattle in 1900 to practice eye, ear, nose, and throat medicine. Nadeau was a charter member of the Soropitimist Club.
