He traveled in steerage class with Isabelle and Margaret Murdock, his mother and sister. My Aunt Nancy described him as having a great sense of humor and always dressing up like a mafioso.

Graveside Rites Are Planned For Hugh Murdock, 74 • Graveside services for Hugh R. Murdock, 74, Huntington Beach, Calif., and formerly of Marengo, will be held at the Calvary cemetery, Marengo, Saturday morning. Murdock died Nov. 8,1977 in a Huntington Beach hospital following a long illness. Funeral services were being held there today, Thursday. The body is expected to arrive in Marengo Friday night where friends may call at Hoover- Valentine funeral home. , Born in Ireland, Murdock came to Ewart, near Brooklyn, when he was 5.
