BONNIE PETSKA

An angel has left our lives. Bonnie L. Petska, 63, longtime Howard resident, died Friday, April 24, 2009 at the Unity Hospice Jack and Engrid Meng Residence, following a courageous daily seven year battle with cancer. She is dearly loved by Gene, Craig and Jen, Amy and Mike and Kaden.
Bonnie was born on Jan. 7, 1946 in Crystal Falls, Mich., to the late Joe and Marquerite (Davis) Martin. She was a true "Yooper" her whole life and she loved file to the fullest. Gene first saw Bonnie dancing at the Circle Tap and fell in love with her. They were married on oct. 4, 1969 and they would have celebrated 40 wonderful years together in a few months.
Bonnie is survived by her husband, Gene; her son, Craig (Jen) Petska, Minneapolis, Minn., her daughter, Amy (Mike) Vander Kelen, Green Bay and the joy of her file, grandson, Kaden Vander Kelen, Green Bay; one brother, Robert (Joanna) martin, Crystal Falls, Mich.; two sisters, Delores (Erv) Anderson, Joanne (Dave) Seppala, all of Crystal Falls, Mich.; brother-in-law, Howard Weackler, Alpha, Mich. Bonnie is further survived by two sisters-in-law, Gloria (Donald) Samz, Mishicot, Wis., Bev (Bernie) Nowicki, Sheboygan, Wis.; numerous nieces, nephews, and so many dear friends who were there for us during these difficult times.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Marge Weackler, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Eugene and Viola Petska, and her best friend "Buster". Friends and family may call at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2597 Glendale Ave., Howard, from 9 to 10:30 am Saturday, May 2. The Memorial Mass will be at 10:30 am Saturday from Rev. John Bergstadt officiating. A memorial fund is being established in Bonnie's name. Blaney Funeral Home is assisting the Petska family.
The Petska family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Anthony Jaslowski and the wonderful staff of Green Bay oncology, third floor at St. Mary's Hospital, the caring staff of Manor Care West and the unbelievable compassion and care of the staff at the Unity Hospice Residence.
