Raymond E Beckler, age 81 of Lorain, died Thursday May 17, 2007 at the New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph. He was born in Lorain November 30, 1925 and had remained a life long resident of the city.

He was a World War II Veteran of the United states Navy where he serves as a torpedo man in the Pacific Theater.

Ray was employed as the Business manager for Plumber's and Steam Fitters local #42 of Norwalk. He retired in 1986 after holding that post for 15 years. Prior to his appointment with Local #42, he had worked as a regular member of Plumbers and Steamfitter local # 830 of Lorain, he had formerly been employed as a welder for the American Shipbuilding Co.

Mr. Beckler was a naturalist who enjoyed feeding and taking care of the various forms of wildlife that visited his yard.

He is survived by his duaghter Debra Ziler of Lorain, son Dale Beckler of Vermilion, stepdaughter Paula Shorf residing in California, a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother Harvey (Rick) Beckler of South Amherst, and sisters Betty Kish and Barbara Barnhart both of Lorain.

He was preceded in death by his wife Lillian A. (Brosky) in 1996; by his parents William J and Anna (nee Webber) Beckler, brothers James and William; sisters Geraldine Beckler and Dorothy Beckler.
