Marian was the 2nd of 3 children of Bill & Mary (née Juritza) Wackerman of Sea Cliff, Long Island. She was the only granddaughter of Will Wackerman of Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
After graduating from Sea Cliff High School, then the Ballard Secretarial School, she worked at the Girl Scout Headquarters in New York.
Marian was an accomplished musician. She was involved with the Epworth League, a Protestant youth group, as the piano accompanist for it's male singing Quartet when she met one of it's singers Leroy C. Tatem.
She & Roy Tatem imaried n Sea Cliff before the start of WW II. After the war they had their only child, a son. They lived in Wesbury, Long Island before moving to New Jersey.
At the time of her passing, she had 1 grandchild.
