William "Bill" Edward Meeks, 89, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Stone Ridge Retirement in Myerstown. Bill was born August 25, 1924, in Richmond, Va.
He served in the United States Army from 1943-1946 and served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater of Operations in the Philippines. He then went through a watchmaker apprenticeship, which he made a career until 2000.
He married his wife, Virginia, in 1947 and together for 20 years ran Meeks Jewelers in Baltimore, Md. Bill always had a sense of humor and was a loving, caring husband, father, and grandfather. He had a love for baseball, especially the Orioles.
Bill leaves behind his wife of 66 years, Virginia; children, David of White Hall, Md., and Beverly, wife of Daniel Martel of Fredericksburg; and grandchildren, Kristen, Lauren, and Drew.
A visitation will be held Monday, October 28, 2013, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at Grose Funeral Home, 358 W. Washington Ave., Myerstown.
A service will be held at Fort Indiantown Gap, Annville, on Monday, October 28 at 1:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ Presbyterian Church, 1300 W. Maple St., Lebanon, PA 17046.
