Harry E. Powers, 81, of Clendenin, passed away October 31, 2013, at Hubbard Hospice House, following a short illness.
He was a member of the Teamsters Union and retired from Chemical Lehman Tank Lines. Harry served in the United States Amry during the Korean War era and was honorably discharged. He enjoyed going to yard sales, auctions and flea markets with his wife. Later in life he spent a lot of time with his friends at the West Side and Elkview senior community centers. He also loved collecting old pictures and scrapbooking, but his most enjoyable moments were spending time with his family and his dog, Chico.

He was born November 3, 1931, to the late Granville Powers and Lillian Wiseman Powers.

He was also preceded in death by his wife of 25 years, Wanda; brother, Jack Wiseman; and grandson, Christopher Gilmore.

He is survived by his sons, Harry Powers Jr. (Tammy) of Clendenin and John Powers (Patty) of Walton; daughter, Donna Aab and husband, Greg, of Clendenin; stepdaughter, Gail Coons of Newport News, Va.; sister, Genevieve Powers of Roanoke, Va.; grandchildren, Tayler Aab, Michael Aab, Bailey Aab, Cole Powers, John Clayton Powers, Payton Powers, Brooklyn Harper, Mallory Clay and Cory Gilmore; and four great-grandchildren.

Service will be 1 p.m. Sunday, November 3, at Hafer Funeral Home Chapel, Elkview, with the Rev. Jim Walthers officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Graceland Memorial Park with military graveside rites conducted by Post 61, Clendenin.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, November 2, at the funeral home.
