Elden Kingston (Father)
(Oct 10 1909 - July 08 1948)

Afton Brown (Mother)
(Apr 10 1913 - Jan 08 1995)

Lionel Peter Brown passed away on October 31, 2013 due to complications from diabetes. He was born on June 28, 1944 in Bountiful, the sixth of seven children born to Elden and Afton Brown. Lionel's father died when he was four years old, so he learned to work hard at a very young age helping his mother on the family farm. He married Mary Jean Dye in 1964, and together they raised nine children. He lived in many places including Elko, NV, Tooele, Park Valley, Cottonwood Heights, and most recently Bountiful, UT. He made his living as a farmer, well-driller, meat cutter, owner-operator truck driver, and property manager. He was known as someone who could work a shovel like no other. He was known for his unquestionable integrity, and his friends and business partners remember him for his honesty and direct approach. At his funeral there were many adjectives used to describe his character saying: Lionel was congenial, responsible, direct, stubborn, intimidating, mean, and a cousin added he was controversial. He was a man who was very strict and demanding, according to his oldest son. Most would agree he was very opinionated. He was very direct when he spoke to you, being a joke or something serious. Lionel loved his family more than anything else. But, he also enjoyed watching Westerns, eating at Chuck-A-Rama, and buying "good deals" in large quantities. On one occasion, he bought out an entire yard sale!

He is survived by Mary, his devoted wife of 49 years, his children and their spouses, Sandra, Bryan (Julie), Brandon (Margaret), Lynelle (Neal), Jerrod (Melissa), Janiece (Joel), Gina (Jason), Jordan, and Lance; 28 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren, also his siblings: Derral, Verla, David, JoAn, Annabelle, and Vern. Lionel admired his mother Afton and was emotional a few weeks before his death when we recalled memories of her.

Funeral services will be held at Russon Brothers Mortuary at 295 N Main St in Bountiful on November 4th at 11 AM, burial to follow at the Bountiful City Cemetery. There will be no public viewing as per his request. Online guest book at www.russonmortuary.com.
