On May 18, 1964 Kathy married Glenn Beyer at Cherry Spring with Rev. William Lange conducting the service. They made their home in San Antonio where Kathy worked for USAA. They then moved to Kerrville before moving back to Fredericksburg in 1976. Kathy worked as a bookkeeper for Otto Kolmeier Company and then for Fredericksburg Lockers. In 1986 she and Glenn became owners of Dutchman's Meat Market which they continue to own and operate.
Kathy was a dedicated member of the Lutheran Church. She served as Council Secretary and Council President of Zion Lutheran in Kerrville and on the Church Council of Zion Lutheran in Fredericksburg. She was also active in the Fredericksburg Band Boosters for many years and was on the first Gillespie County Board of Health that established safe food handling practices for the county. In her spare time she loved to play Bunko and help plan parties and weddings. Most of all, she was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her husband Glenn Beyer and two sons Barry Beyer and wife Heather of Fredericksburg, Brett Beyer and wife Kristy of Horseshoe Bay and 7 grandchildren Lance, Lauren, Layton, Landon, Lainey, Brody and Kaden. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Nelson Edgar Dearing and a sister Evangeline Dearing.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 1, at 10:00 a.m. in Zion Lutheran Church. Interment will follow at Christ Lutheran Cemetery at Cherry Spring. Visitation with the family will be from 3 to 7 p.m. on Thursday afternoon and from 8:30 to 9:30 Friday morning at Beckmann Funeral Home. On Friday morning the funeral home will open at 7:00 a.m.
Pallbearers are her nephews Patrick Beyer, Perry Beyer Jr., Jeff Beyer, Brad Dawson, Bryan Ferguson and Nathan Lutz. Honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren, her cousins of the Crenwelge-Dearing-Ahrens family and employees of Dutchman's Market.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Christ Lutheran Cemetery Fund or to the Adopt A Student Program at St Mary's School.
