Mildred spent most of her adult life in Virginia Beach where she owned and operated a fine antiques shop, Mon Petit Chou, and was an active member of the United Methodist Church.
Her talents were many, including music and arts and crafts, and she will be remembered in the Miles Family as "the great listener," who like Emily Dickinson, could be relied on to distill great wisdom and beauty out of small, ordinary, everyday aspects of life. Millie, as she was generally known, was engaged in the lives of all of her family members until her very end. She will be greatly missed, always loved and forever remembered.
A brief burial ceremony will be held at Riverside Memorial Park in Norfolk at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 26, followed at 1 p.m. by a Celebration of the Life of Mildred Miles and a reception for family and friends to be held at the Virginia Beach United Methodist Church at 212 19th Street and Pacific Avenue, with the Reverend Ted David officiating.
