GOSHEN – Gerald "Bud" Francis Bowers, 95, of Goshen, passed away at 6:00 p.m. On Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at his residence.
He was born on September 18, 1918 in Bloomfield, IN, to the late A.E. Ellsworth and Ethel (Street) Bowers.
Only July 7, 1968 in Elkhart he married Rebeca "Becky Holt, she survives. Their blended family includes Bud's daughter Sue Ann (James) Hampel of Elkhart, Bud's 2 granddaughters, Sarah and Amy, Becky's 2 daughters, Margo Minich of Minneapolis, MN and Marsha (Thomas) Henson of Elkhart, 2 grandsons, Jordan and Adam and 4 granddaughters Jillian, Charlotte, Rebecca and Abbey. He was preceded in death by his parents A.E. Ellsworth and Ethel Bowers, 1 sister Maxine Faye and 1 brother William "Bill" Bowers.
Bud worked for Vincent Bach, as a brass mouth piece buffer until his retirement in 1984. He was a member of St. David's Episcopal Church and served as a senior warden on the vesty.
He graduated from Concord High School in 1936. He was a past president of the Elkhart Bowling Association from 1960-1961.Was a member of the National Association of Miniatures (N.A.M.E) He was an avid Notre Dame and Chicago Cubs fan, he enjoyed bowling and was a U.S. Army veteran.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at St. David's Episcopal Church, Elkhart.
Father Henry Randolph will be officiating.
Elkhart Cremation Services is entrusted with arrangements.
