Mrs. Nell Chapman Agee, a former historian with the Cole County Historical Museum, died Friday following a lengthy illness and 15 months of hospitalization.

Mrs. Agee, 71, was born Jan. 26, 1905, at Bonnots Mill, the daughter of Robert Franklin and Hattie Boillot Chapman. She was married April 14, 1931, to Vie Agee, who survives.

Mrs. Agee was a city resident since her childhood and attended school here. She worked as a secretary to the director of the state Selective Service from 1943 until her retirement nine years ago.

In recognition of her service to the Historical Society, she received the Hope Award in 1974.

She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church.

Other survivors include: Two brothers, Russell "Bud" Chapman and Carl Chapman, both of Jefferson City; and two sisters, Mrs. Katherine Bode and Mrs. Frances Knox, both of Jefferson City.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in the Houser Chapel with the Rev. Charles Ross officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
