Joy was born in San Diego, Calif. on Dec. 16, 1952 to Harold and Louise Wooldridge. Her family moved to Susanville from Tehachapi, Calif. in 1963. She was a graduate of Lassen High School in 1971 and received her associate's degree from Lassen College in 1973 and pursued a career in the medical field. Joy met the love of her life, George, after high school and they were married in 1972. In 1986, they were blessed with the birth of their only child, Katelyn, and further blessed 24 years later with the birth of their only grandchild, Aylah. It is with this family and many dear friends Joy spent her life. She liked hiking, motorcycle riding and the great outdoors. A cherished activity was the annual family camp in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Joy would eagerly plan and prepare the family for their annual pilgrimage and upon returning from camp Joy would exhibit a rejuvenated bounce in her step and sparkle in her eye. To those who knew her, those times were very special. Jo asked nothing from others yet she gave of herself totally and unabashedly. It is very uplifting to know that someone very special was being invigorated spiritually so that her soul and ours could be uplifted. Joy gave of herself unselfishly and without condition to those of us fortunate to know her. She had a simple way about her that would convey a felling of warm-heartedness and ease to whomever she me. She had a creative side that gave her many hours of enjoyment, which also provided many hours of delight to those who were graced by one of her hand-crafted gifts. Every one of Joy's endeavors was ensconced with a Christian ethic that embodies only the truest of spirits. Joy had those finest of human traits. She was the embodiment of love and compassion to everyone she came into contact with. She had the empathy to make everyone she touched feel at ease, and to feel at peace with their life's choices. Joy will be missed.
Joy is survived by her husband of 40 years, George, daughter, Katelyn Anne Harrison, and granddaughter, Aylah Louise Harrison, all of Susanville; sister, Marjorie Schuessler, of Borego Springs, Calif.; brother, Harold Dean Wooldridge, of Sacramento, Calif.; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Joy was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Louise Wooldridge.
As long as Joy has the love of each one of you; she will live her life in the hearts of all of us.
