Obituary from the Edwardsville Intelligencer, Edwardsville, Madison County, Illinois, Monday, February 13, 1961, page 2:
  George Peter Volz, 62, of 1419 Eberhart Ave., an Edwardsville resident 15 years, died Saturday at 10:15 p.m. at Belleville Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient the past month.
  Mr. Volz had been a custodian at Edwardsville High School for three years. He had previously worked at the U.S. Radiator Corporation.
  Born April 5, 1898 in Alhambra, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Long Volz. He was married to Miss LaVerne Funke on Oct. 30, 1943 in Edwardsville.
  Surviving in addition to his wife are four brothers, Joseph L. Volz and Edward A. Volz, both of Edwardsville, Henry Volz and Louis P. Volz, Alhambra. Two brothers, John and William, preceded him in death and one sister, Mary, died in infancy.
  Mr. Volz was a member of the Salem E & R church in Alhambra and Masonic Lodge of New Douglas, and a veteran of World War II.
  The body may be viewed at the Lesley Marks funeral home until the services Tuesday at 2 p.m. The Rev. R.F. Tormohlen, pastor of Eden E & R church here, will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill cemetery.
  Masonic services will be held at the funeral home tonight by members of the New Douglas lodge.

Pallbearers were Virgil Hellinger, Thornton Lane, Edward Frueh, Frederick Schallenberg, Alfred Volz and Emmett Hosto.
