Kenya was a graduate of North Forrest High School and Jones County Junior College. She was a licensed cosmetologist and was previously employed at BoRics Beauty Salon. Later she was employed at AAFES of Camp Shelby as well as H & R Block for 6 years. She recently became self-employed as a tax consultant at Taxes by Kenya.
Kenya was the daughter of Benjamin F. Bass and Annie Lucille Bass. She was the mother of six children; Mariah M Walker, Audrianna A.N. Bass Zharia M. Taylor, Zedric C. Taylor Jr., Mikayla A. Bass, and Shelton D. Echols Jr. all of Hattiesburg.
Halls-Fairley Mortuary is in charge of the services and she will lie in state there on Wednesday from 4pm until 6pm and also on Thursday at Mt. Carmel from 9am until the services at 2pm. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery."
