John Benjamin Robertson DENVER CITY-John Benjamin, (J.B.) Robertson, 83, of Denver City, Texas, passed away peacefully on Oct. 30, 2013, with his loving wife Peggy by his side. J.B. was born the youngest of six children in Kountze, Texas, to Gussie Pearl and Harvey R. Robertson on Aug. 9, 1930. He graduated from Kountze High School in Kountze, Texas, in 1947. Being raised in an oilfield family, he went to work for Atlantic Refining Company in 1948 until his retirement in 1986. His career with ARCO began as a roustabout in the east Texas piney woods and took him through Ingleside, Texas, and Crane, Texas, before settling in Denver City in 1972 as a production foreman. Along with his career in the oil industry, J.B. had many talents. He was accomplished at pouring and finishing concrete and buildings and other carpentry work. His handy work on block fences, concrete slabs and buildings, as well as other projects is abundant in and around Denver City. He loved children and relished the nine years spent coaching his sons and other youth baseball during their time in Crane. J.B. was a sports enthusiast who loved Friday night high school football and fishing. His summer trout fishing trips to Colorado were some of his favorite times. He was a great son, father, grandfather, brother, and husband. He had many friends who were attracted to his friendly nature, sense of humor, and warm personality. He truly never met a stranger and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. J.B. was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Selma Jordan, Helen Robertson, and Ruth Blanchard; his brothers, Harvey Jr. and William Robertson; granddaughter, Kellye Robertson of Midland, Texas; and stepdaughter, Tina Bruton of Denver City.
